monochromatic sketch

This card is done completely in Real Red. I've got Real Red ink for the Upsy Daisy set (which you can still get for 15% off until tomorrow..) and Real Red grosgrain ribbon and cardstock. Even the DP behind the images is Real Red and comes from the Summer Picnic pack.

What I didn't have in Real Red are the brads. Those I had to custom color by dipping those tiny little heads into Versa Mark, dip the head into red embossing powder and then heat it up with my Heat Tool.

I tried really hard to photograph it to show you but with only having two hands, it couldn't be done. Maybe I'll get a chance to do it when one of my kiddos comes home and she/he can hold the camera while I do the dipping and heating. It really was a simple way to customize a brad.
Of course, you have to remember to use tweezers for it or your fingers will get burned.
And it is a good thing I have the crafters took kit, which includes an awesome pair of tweezers, from Stampin Up because when we did the brad coloring technique a year or so ago in class, I used my Tweezerman's eyebrow tweezers. That wasn't a good idea as you can tell by my current unibrow because it sure does a job on the tweezers. Ruins them for good.
This layout comes from Beate's weekend sketch challenge, which ends in literally 31 minutes. I'm hoping to squeeze (should I say tweeze??) my card in on time. Here is her sketch challenge.
Have a great Monday!

Jen, What a pretty card, I have been wanting to use my upsy daisy stamp set and this is a good way to try it. I think I will skip coloring the brads though. Jean
